MORE TO COME.. On Thursday, April 6th Tim received from the International House of Blues Foundation, The 1st annual "Action for The Arts" Award. This is to acknowledge an individual in the community who has taken action to bring arts programs and learning experiences to youth and to have been instrumental in increasing interest and participation in the arts. How fitting, that it was presented at Tim's guitar classes "Make An Impression Guitar Program" student recital.

Music With Kids In Mind ...
In the spring of 1998 a kindergarten teacher came to me in search of songs that taught how to spell. My creative juices began to flow and "Kids! "We Are The Future""and "The First Day of School" - is the result. There are five spelling songs, three other educational songs and four self-esteem songs. I do hope you find this enjoyable, and educational. Click here to download three samples from this great new CD.

Music With A Message ...
My groups are crazy about your CD -- Kids!"We Are The Future""and "The First Day of School" - It is very easy to incorporate your songs into our existing programs that allow us to teach across the curriculum. I think you have an educational Grammy winner here. One of the most special songs is "Win, Win Solution", especially with the older children. We are trying to present a lot of positive action activities and this is a good song for this connection. October 24th was United Nations day and the students were able to make the connection with our discussions on world peace, without my help (pretty good don't you think?). I really like the sign language connections because I do work with hearing impaired students, very good. The other teachers in the schools also like the spelling and math connections. The blackline masters make sharing the songs easy for non-singing teachers to connect also. I am very excited about your songs. Thanks for all of your work. It is a big plus that the songs seem to cross the usual cultural barrier that some songs seem to have. The rhythms have them hooked for life, I think!!!! - Shirley A. Stewart

As reviewed in Offbeat Magazine :

A while back, an Orleans Parish kindergarten teacher and colleague of music educator Timmy Wells, A.K.A. Tim Weller, inquired if he had any catchy songs that taught kids how to spell. Well, Wells didn't but shortly thereafter he had a whole bag of 'em, which is the basis of this album aimed at pre-K through fifth grade. Unlike other children's music offerings that are intended for silly, playtime jams, Wells' songs are educational. There are five spelling songs that are kid infectious such as "Spell The Numbers" that, besides participating in the number spellings, imitating the barking dog has also become part of the show. "Twelve Months a Year" raps the months with the challenge being to spit out the last three in rapid succession. Other songs are also participatory that teach opposites, counting money and the five senses; "Win, Win Solution" and "Choose Your Attitude" contain moral-based messages targeted at older kids. Wells knows how to hold his audience well–he smartly mixes the arrangements between rock, reggae and rap not to create any attention span deficits. If anything else, your kid will probably be a better air guitarist. Wells is a good model for that too...Dan Willging
